What should i buy the sky caddie SG5 or a Bushnell pinseeker (Laser range finder)?
Im not sure which is the best option a little help please.
I own a Skycaddie, and demo’d a Bushnell.
Skycaddie: the numerous measurements (not just to the green, but to clear trouble/avoid it) are the biggest selling feature. I’ve used mine for two years and have never had reason to dispute the yardages. The drawback is that you have to pay an annual fee to download courses.
Bushnell: great at giving yardage to the flag. No annual fee; just point and hit. It does not give you multiple distances, which is what I want. If one number is sufficient, this may be the way to go.
Anything that measures elevation/wind is illegal and can’t be used so it’s of no use during tournament rounds. Skycaddie does not have this option. I play a fair bit of tournament golf so this was a mitigating factor.
Go to Skycaddie’s website and you can look at the annual plans they have (it’s based on geography).
If you play one course all the time, the Bushnell may be the way to go, but if you move around a lot…you may want to consider a Skycaddie.
